Our Trip to Playa del Carmen
Located just outside of Cancun, right on the shores of the Caribbean Sea, is the beautiful town of Playa Del Carmen! It’s one of the most stunning places for destination weddings-- and where I traveled for a recent work trip. Although I was here for a destination wedding, we were able to sightsee and relax after and before work.
Where We Stayed
Rosewood Mayakoba is a stunning resort on the ocean located within the heart of Mexico’s Riviera Maya. Mayakoba is home to four award-winning resorts, over 25 restaurants and dining experiences, a Dive & Water Sports Center, nature trails, a PGA championship golf course, tennis courts, and El Pueblito, an authentic replica a Mexican town plaza.
After checking in at the lobby, you can take a boat through the lagoon to your suite, where they have baby crocodiles, iguanas, diving sucks, anteaters, spider monkeys, and more. We stayed in the rooftop ocean view suite-- a beautiful suite with amazing views.
There is plenty to do just at this resort, for kids and adults. Each room came with a bicycle per person, so you can ride to dinner or take a golf cart that is available 24/7. They also have a fantastic spa that offers massages and facials. My boyfriend also enjoyed the golf course, which is the number one course in the country.
Best Places to Eat
Zapote Bar- This beautiful lounge has AMAZING Mediterranean food. It’s inside rosewood, and an easy trip for dinner and fresh cocktails made with real juice.
Agave Azul- Also located inside rosewood, it has delicious Asian cuisine right on the lagoon.
Harrys- If you want a steak-- visit here! It’s a fantastic steakhouse with great music located in the downtown area.
Other Places We Visited
Cozumel- This stunning small island is only a ferry ride away. You’ll want to made a trip here to visit the beaches, but make sure to show up a little early to purchase tickets. The ferries leave every few hours, so it’s easy to plan a quick getaway.
Tulum- Tulum is only an hour and a half drive from where we stayed- and completely worth it! I would recommend preparing for traffic once you enter Tulum, as it is jam-packed with small roads.
Taboo Tulum- Once you’re in Tulum, stop by this iconic beach club. It’s a memorable and fun party atmosphere that serves food, drinks, and hookah.
Ahau Restaurant- This restaurant is known for the show-stopping sculpture of the women before entering the property. There are several photo ops here and a lot of lines, so we didn’t personally take one since we didn’t have a lot of time.
What To Wear and Bring
I recommend light clothes that are versatile, comfortable, and cute! There are great photo opportunities everywhere, so having an easy-styled outfit is a good idea.
Lightweight and breathable tops
Maxi dresses
Skirts
Shorts
Sandals
A crossbody bag (I found a cute woven one on amazon, I wouldn’t suggest bringing any costly items)
Bug spray, we got SEVERAL mosquito bites.
Sunscreen!
