My Lake Tahoe Guide

Lake Tahoe has become one of my favorite places to visit during the summer, the lake is crystal clear, and the scenery is breathtaking! I think it’s a fantastic place to stay for a family vacation, a girl’s weekend, or a couples getaway with a vast range of things to do! I also love that it is such a short travel time from San Diego (if you fly). We flew into Reno, NV then drove to Tahoe which was an hour drive from the airport. If you need a rental car, I highly suggest Reno Tahoe rental, they are only a minute away from the airport and have great customer service and several options to choose from!

We visited beautiful Lake Tahoe during the end of July and found it was pretty hot, but the nights were perfect! For me, the ideal time to go is in late August or September is to visit before the snow season.

Where to Stay

Edgewood is our favorite resort to stay. The scenery is incredible, being right on the lake. In addition, my boyfriend loves golf, which makes it a perfect spot for both of us. Each week, they have several activities, including movies on the lawn, smores, games, and more! I would check the website to see what they offer during the time frame you plan to go.

Favorite Activities to Do in Tahoe

  • Spa at Edgewood- Relax and destress at their heavenly spa, equipped with massages, facials, and more.

  • Relax on the Lake- Edgewood has lawn chairs right on the lake where you can order food and drinks. If you don’t stay at Edgewood, there are different parts of the lake to visit and relax instead.

  • Golf- I don’t play golf, but my boyfriend does. This is one of the few places I enjoy riding because it is beautiful and has so much wildlife to see.

  • Have a boat day!

  • Picnic on the lawn at Edgewood- Edgewood provides picnic baskets you can customize.

  • Horse Back Riding- Zephyr Cove Resort Stables guided horseback trail rides are a great way to experience the area’s serenity and beauty in summer.

  • Kayaking

  • Hiking- There are several amazing trails in Lake Tahoe, click here for a list of a few.

  • Go to the Casino- There are several in the area if that’s your kind of thing!

  • River Rafting at Truckee- A nice relaxing activity, thats great for the whole family! I would recommend bringing towls, food and drinks to enjoy on the ride.
