All About My Vanity Organization
You can only do your makeup as well as the light you apply it in. This is why a great vanity setup is essential for me. I’ve found that most of my clients who I gave lessons and tutorials for do their makeup in the bathroom with terrible and harsh lighting! This irregular lighting is a huge factor for having makeup that doesn’t look the same from when you apply it to when you step out for your day.
Since I’ve been getting a lot of questions about my vanity organization, desk, and what mirror I use, I’m giving you my best tips for your vanity organization! It’s time to start this season with a whole new appreciation for your makeup routine.
Let’s start with vanity lighting. It is ideal to have a set up near natural light, facing or by a window. If that is not possible for you, no worries! There are many vanities from Impressions Vanity that have LED lighting which is most comparable to natural sunlight. For traveling, I also have a mini setup that’s perfect for on-the-go makeup looks (let me know if you are interested in a travel essentials post!).
My vanity is my happy place. Having a clean, comfortable space that matches my personality is an everyday mood-booster. It makes me look forward to an essential part of my morning routine when doing glam on myself! If you have the space for it- I highly recommend investing in a vanity area with lighting and seating to do your makeup.
For my desk, I use a dressing table from Ikea that matches my mirror, the best part is that it’s under $200 and works AMAZING! I love the matching drawers that I put next to the table for additional makeup storage. Being a makeup artist, I have A LOT of makeup, which means I need a good amount of space. It’s one of my favorite hobbies to test out new products to share with you guys and my clients!
Next is storage, I keep my everyday makeup products and brushes in inserts from Cosmetic Archive. I love that they stay compact, clean, and organized in these easy inserts. I bought mine originally from Etsy but unfortunately, it looks that they closed down their shop, but I found some great dupes on Instagram and more links for similar setups below!
For the additional drawers, I use the Ikea Alex Drawers for organization and storage. I have two of the units with five drawers on each unit. I would recommend these as well for convenient accommodations.
I have each drawer filled with a few different items, mostly organized with the same cosmetic archive organizers. But this foundation display is from vanity collections. They have a whole section dedicated to Ikea compatible organizers.
If you want to add a finishing touch- I love displaying fresh roses or flowers to incorporate the vanity into the rest of the bedroom. You can easily display a small photo frame or jewelry holder if that fits your style as well!
